518 P516 Geared DC Instrument Motors with Premotec motors P516 / P518 Geared DC Ironless Rotor Instrument Motor Series

P518 and P516 range of Geared DC instrument motors are P5 gearboxes fitted with the Premotec 9904 120 16 and 9904 120 18 series motors. The P5 series gearhead is a high quality ovoid unit designed specifically for use with high performance ironless rotor dc motors like the Premotec 9904 120 Series. The unit utilises a combination of steel pinions and brass gears for reduced wear and optimum strength. Each gear stage is mounted in bronze alloy bearings incorporating a lubrication reservoir for enhanced life while the precision cut spur geartrain ensures excellent smoothness to compliment the motors ironless rotor technology.

  • Options -
  • 18 standard gear ratios from 25:6 to 15,000:1
  • Rated torque from 1.5Ncm to 80Ncm
  • Alternative range of standard output shafts
  • Optional integral freewheel assembly
  • Optional integral friction clutch assembly
  • Positional servo version with choice of single or multi-turn potentiometer

With the same basic options and features found in the P516 and P518 series above the low inertia design of the P522 series with ironless rotor motors enable rapid acceleration and reversals to be obtained, with the units providing a peak torque intermittently during these rapid excursions. Where high ratios are employed maximum allowable torque may be limited by the torque capability of the gearhead. Maximum torque may be controlled by a current limit circuit which ensures that the maximum safe torque is not exceeded. An extensive programme of Geared DC Instrument Servo Motors is realised with the P5 gearheads to match the requirements of a variety of instrument applications where precise control and efficiency is a design requirement.

  • General specification as the P516 / P518 series (above) -
  • 18 standard gear ratios from 25:6 to 15,000:1
  • Rated torque from 0.9Ncm to 80Ncm
  • 6V, 12V and 24V motors
Geared DC Ironless Rotor Servo Motors P523 Series P523 Series Geared DC Ironless Rotor Servo Motors

The P523 series incorporate an ironless rotor low inertia DC Servo Motor equipped with a choice of either a dual track incremental encoder or precision DC tachogenerator. The use of reinforced precious metal commutation results in high efficiency, which combined with the rotor design enables accurate control which is free from cogging, even at low speed. The compact dual track encoder option may be used with a supply voltage ranging from 5-15Vdc and provides the choice of either TTL or CMOS compatible output signals. A further choice of either 15 or 16 pulses per revolution, when combined with the selected gear ration enables the design engineer to tailor the system resolution to his exact requirements. When used in an Analog control system the optional version with a DC Tachogenerator provides an optimum velocity feedback signal to provide enhanced control particularly at low speed.

  • General specification as the P522 series (above) -
  • Rated torque from 2.1Ncm to 80Ncm
  • 6V, 12V and 24V motors
  • 1.5mV per RPM Tacho voltage
  • 15ppr or 16ppr dual track encoders
Geared DC Ironless Rotor Servo Motors P528 Series P528 Series Geared DC Ironless Rotor Servo Motors

The P528 series of geared DC Servo Motors utilise carbon brush technology to provide long life when used with PWM drive circuits. The use of a pre-loaded ball bearing construction enables the fitment of an optical shaft encoder for use with digital control circuits and as an alternative the motor may be specified with a precision DC Tachogenerator. This may be used to provide accurate bi-directional velocity control or where additional velocity damping is required in positional control systems.

  • Options -
  • 18 standard gear ratios from 25:6 to 15,000:1
  • Rated torque from 4.5Ncm to 80Ncm
  • Alternative range of standard output shafts
  • Optional integral freewheel assembly
  • Optional integral friction clutch assembly

P5 Series Positional Servodrive Assembly

The P5 positional servodrive incorporates a potentiometer which is connected to the output shaft to provide an analogue reference signal proportional to output shaft position. A variety of potentiometer options are available to provide the choice of single or multi-turn operation. Although conforming to the standard panel mount design, the feedback potentiometers utilised in P5 positional servodrives have a reinforced internal construction to provide long life in motor driven applications. The feedback potentiometer is coupled directly to the servodrives output shaft via a backlash-free coupling which incorporates a friction clutch to protect the potentiometer against an over travel condition when an option fitted with end stops is specified. P5 series Servodrives may be specified with any of the gear ratios shown above to provide a wide choice of speed options.
